7.1 magnitude earthquake registered on Richter scale in Peru


The United States Geological Survey reported that the telluric movement was perceived northwest of Puerto Maldonado

A strong earthquake measuring 7.1 on Richter scale affected a region on the border of Peru with Brazil, reported the United States Geological Institute (USGS).

The report indicates that the quake was recorded at a depth 609 kilometers in an area of the eastern border of Peru with Brazil.

The earthquake took place shortly after 0900 GMT, about 140 kilometers east of the Peruvian city of Iberia, according of the USGS.
