Ted Cruz, born on December 22, 1970, is a Republican known for his long career within the politics of the United States.
His real name is Rafael Edward Cruz, son of Cuban Rafael Bienvenido Cruz, and he was born in the city of Calgary in Canada, a citizenship that he resigned in 2014.
His mother was born in the United States and both were working in the oil industry.
According to the US News website, Cruz started in politics since he was a student because of his participation in student government organizations, panel discussions, among other things.
Cruz is a lawyer graduated from Princeton and Harvard universities and after completing his studies he grew politically alongside connoted Republican party figures such as George Bush and Greg Abbott.
During his first election in 2012, Cruz arrived in the United States Senate of Texas and became the first senator of Hispanic origin in that state and, in addition, one of three Cuban-American senators in the country.
In 2015, Cruz announced that he would seek the presidency of the United States in 2016, after becoming one of President Barack Obama’s biggest critics at the congress in Washington.
During the primary elections it maintained strong confrontations with the then candidate Donald Trump, which arrived at the personal scope. The differences were overcome over time given Cruz’s support for Trump in his legislative agenda.
Cruz, who does not speak Spanish, married Heidi Nelson, whom he met while he was campaigning for then-candidate George W. Bush in 2001. According to the Business Insider portal, the couple had their first date at a bar in the city of Austin in the year 2001.
In conferences, Cruz has referred to Heidi as his wife and best friend. Currently, the couple has two small girls: Caroline and Catherine.
According to PBS, Cruz announced that his favorite shoes are a pair of black ostrich leather boots.
