Benny M. Pichardo Santos Arias, the Dominican accused of stabbing to death a compatriot with six months of pregnancy in New Jersey, confessed to having committed the murder, alleging that he did so in self-defense.
Santos Arias, 25, is accused of being the author of an attack with a sharp weapon against Esmeralda Cedeño, 20, on the night of November 8 in the city of Perth Amboy.
An affidavit transcribed by the authorities indicates that Arias confessed to the crime of stabbing Cedeño, stating that he did it in self-defense, according to the New Jersey News. Also, Arias took the authorities to where he had hidden the murder weapon.
For now Santos Arias remains in the county jail of Middlesex. He faces multiple charges, including murder, obstructing his own arrest and carrying an illegal weapon.
